I am proud to say that I am a member of the National Domestic Violence Million Voices Campaign.  Please get involved and make a difference. A solution to ending domestic violence begins when families and communities start openly discussing the issue.  Take a stand. Share Your Voice with America.

Abuse is a pattern of coercive controls that one person exercises over another. Battering is a behavior that physically harms, arouses fear, prevents a partner from doing what they wish or forces them to behave in ways they do not want.  Battering includes the use of physical and sexual violence, threats and intimidation, emotional abuse and economic deprivation.  Domestic violence can happen to anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion or gender. It can happen to couples who are married, living together or who are dating. Domestic violence affects people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and education levels.

My mother, during the 1950’s had no place to go with seven children, so she stayed with my father which ultimately caused her untimely death at the hands of my father.  Today there are shelters in almost every city in America.  If you and your children are being abused, please call the number below.  There are people and agencies today that will help you get to safety.  No one deserves to be abused and murdered.

If you think you might be in an abusive relationship please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), 1-800-787-3224 (TTY) or your local domestic violence center to talk with someone about it.
